Comments on Chamomile (G): German Chamomile is native to Europe and North and West Asia.~In Egypt it was known as the "plant's physician" as it is believed that it would keep other plants healthy if grown amongst them.~There are chemical differences between German Chamomile and Roman Chamomile.~The Roman variety is generally considered to be milder because of its lower percentage of the chemical azulene.~Chamomile is used as a soothing, calming tea and the essential oil has the same effect. While the Roman variety is milder, the German oil is better for anti-inflammatory conditions.
