Actions of Essential Oil of Chamomile (R): Calming, skin balancing. Circulatory: Varicose veins. Digestion: Anorexia, colic, diarrhea - infantile, digestive atonia, flatulence, indigestion, intestinal cramps, parasites. Endocrine: Pre-menstrual syndrome. Comments on Chamomile (R): Native to South and West Europe, Chamomile is now cultivated in North America, Britain, Belgium, Hungary, Italy and France.~Roman Chamomile is akin in scent to a fresh green apple.~It is powerful and yet gentle, even to a baby's skin.~Mixed with Lavender, in proper dilution, it is excellent for massaging a small child to promote digestive health.~Used for centuries to smooth the skin, Roman Chamomile is one oil you will want to include among your favorites.~It enhances overall feelings of calm and relaxation and has been traditionally used for hysterical and nervous affectations.~The affinity that Roman Chamomile possesses with feminine problems gave rise to the German name, which translated means "mother herb".~Roman Chamomile is a good oil to use where there is inflammation present, although the German variety is more potent for this use.~Use in a hot compress for boils, abscesses, infected cuts and splinters.~A low dilution of oil may be applied AROUND the outside of a child's ear to help with earaches, and rubbed on the jaw for teething problems.~The child must not be allowed to touch the oil once it is on the skin as it can so easily find it's way into the child's mouth.
