Comments on Fennel (Sweet): Originating in the Mediterranean, Fennel is now cultivated in France, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece and India.~Ancient Chinese used this plant for snakebite, ancient Egyptians and Romans used it for cooking and digestive complaints, for weight loss, colic and to ward off evil spirits and fleas.~Fennel has been found to be both spasmodic and anti-spasmodic, which means it has a normalizing effect.~Of course any spasmodic oil should not be used during pregnancy.~Fennel is also used in wrinkle treatments and it is believed it may have an effect on estrogen levels.
