Properties of Essential Oil of Lavender: Analgesic, Antibacterial, Anticoagulant, Anticonvulsive, Antidepressant, Anti-inflammatory, Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Antitoxic, Carminative, Deodorant, Detoxifier, Diuretic, Emmenagogic, Hypotensive, Insecticide, Nervine, Sedative, Sudorific, Vermifuge, Vulnerary. Actions of Essential Oil of Lavender: Anti-depressant, balances skin, calming, detoxifies, eases labour pain, insect repellent, relaxes muscles, skin balancing, skin toning, tonic - general. Circulatory: Edema, fluid retention, high blood pressure, lumbago, palpitations, parasites, rheumatism, ringworm. Digestion: Colic, diarrhea, flatulence, halitosis, indigestion, intestinal cramps, intestinal parasites, nausea, parasites, tooth abcess, vomiting. Endocrine: Pre-menstrual syndrome. Comments on Lavender: Lavendula Augustafolia is the most delicately scented Lavender and the most important medicinally.~Probably the most versatile oil, Lavender is an excellent oil for burns, muscular problems, anxiety and sleep disorders.~Used with other oils, Lavender has a balancing effect on the entire blend.~During labour Lavender will reduce pain and strengthen contractions when massaged on the lower back.~This oil is also excellent for use on insect bites or other skin irritations and is one of the few that is safe to use undiluted on the skin (except on infants and young children).~It is important to remember that overuse may cause sensitization and that no more than 12 drops per day should be used on a healthy adult - less for children or elderly.
