Comments on Rose: Although native to the Orient, Rose is believed to have first been cultivated in Persia (Iran). It is now cultivated in Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, France, Yugoslavia and China.~The stories hold that Rose oil was first discovered in India when a Raj held a huge celebration for the marriage of his daughter.~As part of the preparations he ordered the moat around the palace to be filled with rose petals (most likely to improve the aroma of the stagnant waters).~After the celebration was over, people noticed a film on the water that, when tasted or smelled, contained the essence of Rose.~There are currently over 10,000 different species and subspecies of Rose.~The finest Rose oil is Bulgarian Rose Otto, extracted from the Damask Rose.~Rose is one of the most antiseptic and least toxic oils.~Often used for female reproductive problems, it has a powerful effect on the uterus as a cleanser and purifyer.~Rose oil can help regulate the menstrual cycle and promote vaginal secretions.~Rose also has a soothing effect on emotions such as depression and grief.~It lightens the heart and eases nervous stress and tension by promoting the release of the hormone dopamine.
